SCANTEC helps customers:
- To map reinforcement within concrete slabs such as rebar, post-tensioned cables etc.
- To identify critical Targets within and below concrete slabs such as conduits, buried objects, utility etc.
- To perform slab analysis such as thickness and rebar spacing, pattern etc.
- To determine potential voids, leakage or cracks within or underneath the slabs
Working with us prior to cutting, coring to safely avoid any accident by hitting live electrical cables or expensive repair for your projects. We are more than happy to answer any questions regarding GPR applications, capabilities or even limitations with specific projects.
Ground Penetrating radar (GPR) is nondestructive method uses electromagnetic radiation in the microwave band (radar pulses) to image the subsurface. Signals from buried objects or structures are reflected and detected by the receiver. For concrete applications, we can detect embedded objects within the slab such as reinforcement steel, rebar or any other critical targets such as electrical conduits. We can also determine the changes in the material properties to locate potential voids, cracks, and rebar deterioration.
DETECTION OF PIPES AND CONDUITS – CONCRETE SLAB-ON-GRADE LOCATING
This locating is performed prior to saw cutting or trenching through the slab to install new plumbing drain pipe, to run a new electrical cable in the floor etc.
DETECTION OF REINFORCEMENT – STRUCTURAL SLAB
Most of structural concrete slabs are reinforced with rebar or post-tensioned cables. Reinforcing steel location is determined prior to remedial works to ensure the integrity of the structure will be preserved during cu
tting and coring through the slabs.
The scanning process also helps engineers to plan the locations of the boreholes as well as fulfill any missing record of the slabs.
