What we do?
New addition to our toolbox — we’re proud to introduce a state-of-the-art Digital X-ray system, now serving Alberta and BC. We provide true radiographic X-ray imaging of concrete slabs, offering direct internal visualization.
Scantec’s Digital Concrete X-Ray service enables engineers, contractors, and building owners to accurately inspect internal concrete structures without drilling, cutting, or damaging the surface. Using advanced digital X-ray imaging, we detect and map embedded elements with high clarity—allowing for safer decision-making before coring, cutting, or renovation work begins.
Our certified technicians follow international safety and radiation standards, ensuring every scan is performed with precision, compliance, and complete on-site safety.
What we use?
Scantec utilizes industry-leading equipment and digital imaging technologies designed for high-precision subsurface inspection. Our solutions combine:
• Digital X-Ray Imaging – High-resolution scanning for internal concrete analysis.
• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) – Real-time subsurface mapping with zero surface damage.
• Electromagnetic Detection (EMD) – Accurate utility tracing for conductive lines and buried infrastructure.
• AI-Enhanced Software & Reporting – Delivers fast, visual, and easy-to-interpret inspection results.

X-Ray Projects
STEP 1
Site Assessment
The work area is reviewed to confirm access, slab configuration, safety requirements, and suitability for X-ray imaging.
STEP 2
Transpointer Alignment
A transpointer system is used to accurately determine and transfer the exact inspection location to both sides of the concrete slab, ensuring precise source-to-detector alignment.
STEP 3
X-Ray Source Setup
The X-ray source is positioned on one side of the slab at the designated location, following established radiation safety procedures.
STEP 4
Digital Detector Panel Setup
A high-resolution digital imaging panel is placed on the opposite side of the slab to receive the transmitted X-ray signal.
STEP 5
Image Acquisition
X-ray exposures are performed to capture clear digital images of embedded elements such as reinforcement, conduits, and other critical targets.
STEP 6
Interpretation, Reporting, and Marking
Images are reviewed and interpreted by qualified personnel. Findings are documented in a report and key features are marked directly on the concrete surface to guide safe cutting, coring, or drilling.
